Fics like trauma bonding

Jack’s been sort of carefully averting his eyes from the hybrids on the stage until now, scanning the rest of the room instead, gathering information on the people and the processes but… there’s something about this one in particular, Jack cannot look away from him. He’s thinner than any of the others have been, and a little more dishevelled looking too. There are bruises blooming in shades of blues and purples and reds across his skin and he’s pale, with deep purplish eye bags that just scream malnourished and abused… and Jack knows already that he’s going to be leaving with this boy. He can’t stop himself. Call it a professional desire to help. aka: Dennis is being sold at a hybrid auction, and Jack’s commitment to helping protect hybrids across Pittsburgh ends up with him taking him home…
