Fics like in the sun

The lake laps at the beams of the little wooden dock that Dennis is sitting on, a sort of gurgling slapping noise as the water rolls back and forth around the structure. The planks underneath him are sun-warmed against his skin, damp from where they’ve been clambering in and out of the water for most of the day. It’s a beautiful day, and the sun is warm and the breeze is also warm, and it’s the kind of heat that is just soporific in the best kind of way. If his attention wasn’t so firmly captured, he might consider dosing off on the dock for a little while, giving into the appeal of the heat and the rhythmic sounds of the water beneath him… but no. He’s got something much better to do. And that something is Jack. Or — rather, he’s not doing Jack (although he very much will be later on), but he’s watching him.
