Jack had known at the end of his last shift that the next few days would suck. He's been working fifteen hour shifts to cover because the cold weather has meant staff shortages due to sickness. And Jack is… he's a lot better, about his leg than he used to be. Years of therapy and meeting up with other vets to play sports and drink and know they're not alone. He has a healthy mindset around it all, really he does. But when they're understaffed and the emergencies keep coming in and he's needed, it hurts him to step back because his leg is aching. Because his stump is swelling from how long he's on his feet and there's little time during a shift he can stop to change liners or deal with the sweat he knows is building up.
