Fics like After The Show

It's 1975, Elton John is about to go on tour. It's been five years since his rise to fame, and he's been invited back to the Troubadour. Celebrity hit him quick and hard, and relationships hit him even harder. He was fresh out of a breakup, his first one, and he needed another companion, someone to be there for him, emotionally and physically. You happened to be there, a comforting face with a warm smile and a sense of humor that matched his. Unlike the others, you weren't drawn to Elton for his rock star attitude, jet, and big back account; it was his shyness, vulnerability, and laugh, though the thick patch of chest hair he let grow over his unbuttoned shirts was a nice touch. You served him drinks at his favorite pub in his hometown. It was friendship first, then business second, when he offered to bring you along on the road to help with wardrobe, but you knew that was a lie; he was lonely. You're not sure when you fell for him, but one day you woke up, and your heart hurt. It wasn't until then that you saw him, as he saw you.
