As Jack pushed open the door, he called out Dennis’ name. He found a curtain drawn in the room, separating it into halves for patient privacy on a normal day. What Jack didn’t see at that moment was Dennis, who had his face buried in a bloody patch of gauze from his earlier patient. He was sniffing it, almost licking it from his desperation, and was so utterly enraptured by the smell of blood that he hadn’t noticed Jack come in until he heard his name be called. - Or, Dennis Whitaker is turning into a vampire.
