Fics like Greener Grass and All That

“And you want Annabelle to make that trip with you?” “Yessir.” Butch looked up again, could feel Annabelle’s eyes on them both. She was standing by the stairs, leaning on the balustrade, a hand pressed to her lips to hide her expression. She hadn’t said a word since Butch had opened her mouth. “Ain’t no one can handle horses like Annabelle and it is a long trip, sir – long but safe, mind – I’d enjoy the company and Annabelle was sayin’ that there’s a hell of a boutique in Derby. They do fine dresses at a fine price and I was thinkin’ we could go on the way.” ~*~ Butch is tasked with driving four horses across the West for the man that keeps her housed and fed. She'll be on the road for 6 weeks in the open country and figures there's nobody else in this world she'd rather run away with for a short while than Annabelle - her best friend and the secret love of her life. They don't know it but by the time they're home again everything and nothing will have changed between them. (Basically a Western-style road trip wherein Annabelle and Butch learn that they have feelings for each other. Set before the events of 'Never Give Annabelle a Gun!')
