Fics like Daughter of Boston

Alyona Hollander-Rozanova moves to Boston for her PWHL rookie season. 'Rozanova' blazoned across her back, she winks at the camera in her first interview before clinching the game win and being papped stumbling out of a club. The city screams in recognition from every newsstand between her apartment and the rink. Alyona, who has never once set foot in her father’s country, is Boston’s new Russian terror on ice and its a little bit glorious. That is until she finds her gaze catching on the hazel eyes and sharp edges of Martha Perez. The New York star center who skates like she was born on the ice, never stops talking and worst of all, plays for Boston’s biggest rival the New York Sirens. Alyona knows she should call Dad about this. Or Babulya Yuna. Have them lay out all the risks. See how many ways Babulya can find to say ‘career trajectory’ or ‘clear and distinct media persona.’ Instead she is calling Papa and no, she is not thinking about why that is. She is not thinking about it at all. ---- Or, the phone call you make when you need someone to talk you out of this, but you really (secretly) hope that they won’t.
