Fics like who I am, not who I was

The Japanese language only has two verb tenses; past and present. If one is gone and you can't seem to place yourself in the other, how do you move into a future without the dream that always led you? Shane Hollander has lost hockey; the ability to play and the access to his memories, nine years of accomplishments documented in stark contrast that he cannot seem to see past and find who he was. Right now, he finds himself on a guided hiking trip everyone claimed would be a good idea, if only a goal to focus his rehab on. Shane doesn't believe he will find himself somewhere in the Canadian wilderness, but the outrageously flirty, forward Russian guide that keeps him upright through every stumble is at least a welcome distraction from the emptiness looming ahead. One foot in front of the other, one step at a time. Sometimes, we don't actually need a direction to start moving. :::::::::::::::::::::::: or; Shane has lost hockey and his memories. Ilya is a hiking guide and more than happy to help him explore… the Canadian wilderness
