It is said that failure is the greatest teacher of them all. And Metal Sonic certainly failed. Worse than ever before. Even after becoming the Metal Overlord, a perfect consolidation of all that he had learned from those around him, his efforts were squashed by his loathsome copy. He was meant to surpass Sonic. He was meant to be the real Sonic. But he couldn't even manage that. He was nothing. A stagnant tool with an unachievable goal. A sorry excuse for life. But when his defeat leads to him being stranded on an abandoned snowy mining planet, surrounded by other sentient robots, he's forced to reconsider that thought. Perhaps the greatest ability he ever learned from organic life was the ability to change.
