Fics like Bravado's Counterfeit

Of course, Tuco's gratitude and zest for survival lasts only as long as his first swig of a drink. The lukewarm and watered down beer soothes the ache in his throat. He brings a hand to his neck, thumbing the skin in need of a shave, the bruised flesh hot to the touch. Anger and bitterness flare and Tuco shoots a mean glare at the man next to him. "Tch, you get any slower and next time I'll truly die, you bastard! What, did you have a nice nap while I was getting tusseled up and strung by my throat?" "I was watching you," comes the quiet answer. "I'll take a nap next time." Tuco splutters. Tuco's day starts with a noose around his neck.
