Fics like Waiting For The Thaw

“Hey, come away from the window!” Monty was pressed up against the glass again and no matter how many times Kevin tried to get him to settle down, the boy was restless. He’d tried to just ignore him and go to sleep but Monty was heavy-footed and the floorboards of the cabin creaked every time he took a step. “But what if something’s out there?” “There is something out there.” Kevin sat up with a sigh, exhausted and irritated. “That’s why we need to stay hidden.” ~*~ Four boys find themselves abandoned by their families in the middle of winter because, as everybody knows, you send a cursed boy to St. Churnley's forest. It's just as widely known but considerably less acknowledged that once inside, nobody makes it out alive. (Whumptober 2025 fills for Days 4, 15, 23* & 26 - details in the summary)
