Fics like Into the Lion's Den

Kagami, much to her chagrin, is heading to the Lion province to the north of Chisana Basho to be officially courted by the Lion general Akodo Hashiga. It is an uncomfortable duty, necessitated by the peace treaty between the provinces and made perilous by the fact that parties on both sides of the border have reasons to want the courtship to succeed... and to fail. Jiromasu has followed his cousin into the north as her yojimbo. But he has also been tasked with finding out more about the internal schism within the Lion clan. It is a dangerous task, as a Crane interfering with Lion politics runs the risk of ruining all. But his cousin is the perfect excuse for his presence and, even if there is little to find, a Winter Court in the heart of Lion lands is bound to be entertaining. Goro has headed north as well, at Lion request, to determine how wide-spread the Shadowlands corruption in the province is. To his disgust, he keeps finding himself having to navigate his hunt around the politics swirling about his Crane companions. But politics, it seems, can be just as dangerous as Shadowlands creatures as they step out of Chisana Basho and into the Lion's den.
