Fics like A Record of the Shadow Throne

Shosuro Kotone to Bayushi Yojiro- I have prepared an accounting of our deeds from the summons of our Lady to present. I beg your indulgence if I retread ground you have walked; it seems wrong to begin a story in its middle. In the 1123rd year past the founding of the Emerald Empire, our Lord Bayushi Shoju struck down his friend, the Emperor Hantei XXXVIII. I know not why. This coup failed, the Crown Prince's throne restored by a fraction of the clans. Our Lord Bayushi and his only child were slain, his wife the Lady Kachiko captured and forced to marry the new Emperor, the entirety of our clan disbanded, its members forced into exile or hiding. As a boy, the new Emperor was impetuous and brash, impatient and with a sometimes callous disposition. This was a sign of things to come, so my Lady must take a hand in the affairs of state -- silently. Thus her actions from the shadow of the throne. *These are from the game sessions of John Wick's "The Shadow Throne" Legend of the Five Rings 2024 campaign, Scorpion agents working for Kachiko in the era before the Clan War. John talks about our game here.
