Fics like my love is a flower, my love is my undoing

After some investigation, Sonic discovers that he has Hanahaki disease. There is a plant growing inside his lungs through his throat. It will kill him if he leaves it alone. His other options are to confess his feelings, get a surgery to remove the plant, or lose his feelings. He can't confess his feelings. They would only burden Shadow, and Sonic doesn't want that to happen. He can't get the surgery, either. It would erase all the memories and feelings he has for Shadow (and for any other platonic love that was mixed into the romantic love this plant grew from). His only option, then, is to lose his feelings for Shadow. That, unfortunately, is easier said than done. - Game universe Trigger Warning: Vomiting, blood
