Fics like Drive

The 2017 season continues after what happened at Florida and it's not the easy cruise to the Cup Jackson Storm was hoping for. Last season was a breeze but now the field is almost entirely Next Gens, like him. Lightning McQueen is racing his last season, which is annoying at worst and funny at best. Not a real threat. No, it's not McQueen that's showing to be a threat to the name he built for himself. Florida was not a fluke. Ramirez is here and she's here to win, just like him. So as the season drags on he finds himself battling Ramirez, road courses, Texas heat, lies from people he needs to trust the most, paranoia starting to override his carefully honed apathy, and his sponsor tightening their grip on his every move. And all the while, Ramirez's temporary crew chief won't stop being nice to him.
