Fics like pretend

So he put up with it for another year, and then another and then another, watched the weird little girl he’d reluctantly dragged his ass to get up for every morning grow into one weird little kid. She grows a pair of incredibly sharp canines and has Ballister’s genius and his entire goddamn heart while she’s at it too. She picks fights with the other five years olds at fucking daycare and is a whole nightmare and a half to feed and bathe and put to bed and still, yes, Ambrosius absolutely loved Balister Boldheart with his whole heart but he’s just isn’t sure how much longer he could keep up with a life he’s never wanted just to prove a point. or: ambrosius is (sort of) an absent partner and (sort of) an absent father and is (sort of) trying to atone for it, if only the mean pink-haired little girl would fucking let him.
