Fics like i'd meet you where the spirit meets the bones

“And then,” Ambrosius finally stops, to take in a great gasp of air, but he’s off again before Ballister can stop him, “I chopped off your arm. I - how are you just - how are you just sitting there? I deserve - I don’t even deserve you looking at me, I chopped off your fucking arm, for Gloreth’s sake.” Ballister blinks at him. “I don’t care about the arm,” he says quickly, before Ambrosius can get another word in edgewise, “I really don’t. It’s what we were trained to do. Isn’t it? Protect the Queen, protect the Institute above anything else. You were just - doing what you were taught to do. I can’t… hold that against you.” “But I cut off your arm.” “I made a new one.” [Or; Ballister forgives Ambrosius for his arm because it was what they were 'trained to do.' In the midst of this conversation, a relationship is rekindled.]
