Fics like Dearer than I?

“I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to betray you, to betray what we had, but if I didn’t, I would be betraying the kingdom, my bloodline, my duty, everything I was raised to do! The entire city was counting on me to…to bring you to justice, and you know how much I care about the city-" “More than me?” Bal interrupts softly—no hint of anger, only a fragile hurt, and Ambrosius doesn’t need to see to know the exact expression of tentative sadness on his face. Panic lances through him like lightning. “No,” he says quickly, sitting up to look at Bal, “no…not more than you.” Never more than you. He would’ve kissed him here, before, to really drive the point home. Now, he’s not sure he has the right. Bal studies him, expression conflicted, as if he wants to believe him but doesn’t. Ambrosius hates himself. "I was counting on you too," Bal says, with an edge of accusation, though it is purely out of despair. Even now, he refuses to hate him.
