Fics like Stars Shining Bright Above You

The soulmate string is a purely human trait; even if two connected humans have no similarities, no possible contact with each other up until their first meeting, they could have one. Sometimes the strings change colors as a relationship evolves, a phenomena that was extremely hard to track. They can't be replicated. There's no way to artificially duplicate a string or change its color. Nobody has been able to figure out if they're even made of anything other than light. And to round it all off, the only people that can see the strings are you and whoever you're connected to. This is especially bad for Ryland, who has two clear strings shooting straight up into the sky.
