Fics like Of Her Blood

When an away mission exposes Captain Kirk to a dormant alien energy source, he's left with an unsettling new ability: an almost supernatural read on people's weaknesses and desires, and the power to bend them to his will with barely a word. Terrified of what he might become — and what he might do to the one person he refuses to test it on — Kirk has to confront the source of the effect before it takes root permanently, all while holding back a confession he's suddenly far too capable of making sound irresistible instead of true. When the power finally recedes, it takes the shortcut with it — leaving Kirk to say what he means the hard way, with nothing but himself behind it.
