Fics like Dem's the Facts, Sweetheart

Through the shift, Spock can’t help but note how anytime anybody says something to Kirk or visa versa, he responds, usually, with the same 1920s twang and a drawn out, “sweetheart.” When he calls Uhura it, she tuts and covers her face with her hand, though Spock does not think she is truly abashed. When he calls Sulu it, Sulu grins and calls their Captain “baby-doll” in return. When he calls Chekov it, the ensign looks mostly confused, the expression gradually easing the more Kirk repeats until finally he takes it as the new normal. Not once, during the entire shift, does Kirk call Spock “sweetheart.”
