Fics like The distance between us

When a routine rescue goes catastrophically wrong, Buck and Eddie expect injuries, paperwork, and maybe a few weeks of being extra careful around unstable buildings. They don’t expect to wake up bound together by a mysterious red string of fate. At first, it seems like an impossible curse. The farther apart they get, the worse they feel, and no one can explain why the universe—or whatever caused this—decided that the two of them couldn’t be separated. But the string is more than a tether. It lets them hear each other’s thoughts. Feel each other’s emotions. See pieces of each other’s dreams. Every wall they’ve spent years building starts to crumble as they are forced to confront the one thing they’ve always been best at avoiding: the truth. Because maybe the string didn’t create their connection. Maybe it only revealed what was already there.
