Fics like reclaim my elation

It’s John’s birthday today. At least, she’s pretty sure it is. She’s been counting since she got up here, keeping track of the days in the back of one of the many notebooks she’s gone through. One Earth day is about a month up here, so she can count how many months have passed down there based on that. And if she’s right in her calculations, which she usually is, it’s March 7, 1836. Hershey’s 29th birthday. A little over five months on Earth time since they all arrived, and she stayed behind. It feels like so much longer. Probably because for her, it has been. Anna can’t regret it, though. It’s been an… adjustment, to say the very least, but it’s worth it. She gets to be a physical part of her greatest creation, guiding sailors home from up above. She thinks about her nine-year-old self, floating in the middle of the ocean, terrified and shaking and alone, thinking she’d never see land again, and knows she couldn’t have made another choice. There’s other benefits, too, of course. The view, for one. Fortnight Day 1: Tequila (Alternate)
