Fics like The Splendid, Silent Sun

In one universe, Adam is sent through a portal to Oklahoma, where people think he's crazy and not worth much of a second glance. When he returns home, he has no plans of returning to Earth--where he had been alone and ostracized by his peers. In this universe, a butterfly flaps it's wings: Adam finds himself in a Kansas town called Smallville, sword still lost. But the people who find him, the Kent Family, aren't dismissive of his claims of nobility from a different planet at all. In fact, their son, Clark, is a lot more closer to him than he thinks. He still wants to return home to Eternia someday, sure. But he can't help but feel at home on Earth, too.
