Fics like Missing Links

In a world where humans are born with a predetermined ‘soulmate’, so to say, Ryland Grace is very happy to wonder the earth without. Sure, the weight of what should be his bond dulls the senses and makes the world a little more distant than he would like, but there was nothing for it. Nothing to fix the ache, except a certain splotch of stars, and this feeling of impending doom. Well, there was nothing, until his life was ruined and subsequently fixed all in one horrible day. -- (or, my first attempt at soulmates where Grace can’t find a mate because his is in space, waiting. Oh, and both of their mate is waiting not so patiently on Erid.)
