The flier featured a portrait of the Fire Lord. The man was young, around Jet’s age. He possessed sharp golden eyes, dark hair, and a resting expression that looked faintly like a scowl. The red scar over his eye was devastatingly distinct. It was Lee. A familiar burn sparked inside Jet's chest, and with it came a fury of realizations. Lee was never Lee. He was Zuko, the whispered-about banished prince of the Fire Nation, now Fire Lord. Jet had been right all along. He was an ashmaker, and he was a liar and a fraud. Zuko had long since settled into a solitary routine. His closest friends, spread across the world, only visited on occasion. Uncle Iroh had retired to his tea shop. Suki and Ty Lee left when he relieved the Kyoshi Warriors of their duty, when the assassination attempts died down, and he could hardly call any of his current ministers or guards 'friends.' While he and Mai stayed in touch, they were never as close as they once were. He had not set eyes on his sister in years. He was still figuring out how to be content with his loneliness, when someone he never expected to see again attempted to kill him. Frankly, it was a pleasant surprise that Jet was still alive.
