Fics like Where the Radar Cannot See

Fresh from basic training and barely qualified to fly, Tom Kazansky thought he knew how to navigate the rigours of naval aviation. He didn’t expect to meet Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in a dimly lit gay bar on the west coast, let alone find him again aboard the HMCS Bonaventure. But in the shadows of The Purge — a time when love could end careers and exposure could cost lives — temptation and loyalty come with deadly stakes. As desire ignites, Tom and Pete must balance passion with self-preservation, each encounter pulling them deeper into danger. When a night out is spotted by prying eyes, Tom is questioned, careers hang in the balance, and Tom’s walls grow higher than ever. Or In an alternate Canadian Forces where the aircraft carrier Bonaventure still patrols the Canadian coast and the skies are dominated by F-14 Tomcats, young pilot Tom “Iceman” Kazansky is just finding his wings. Fresh from basic and pilot training, Tom is determined to keep his head down in a military culture where one misstep could destroy a career, especially during The Purge, a covert program targeting LGBTQ+ personnel.
