Fics like Remember the Human

Captain Dietfried Bougainvillea makes a horrifying discovery while shipwrecked on a deserted island: something shaped like a girl, whose skin seems to stop bullets, and who kills men for food and for play. But that girl understands spoken language. Halt and Töte: “Stop” and “Kill.” That’s enough for him to stop the slaughter. But his nation, Leidenschaftlich, and its alliance, the Union, are losing a continent-spanning war. When he’s rescued, the boat picks up the girl along with him. Whatever she is, she isn’t human, but she proves willing to fight and to learn. By war’s end, she’s fluent in spoken language, and they’ve won. What happens to her then, when she’s hired to ghostwrite letters as an Auto Memories Doll after having personally slain thousands of men? And what happens to the men who fought alongside her? (AU. Crossover with All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) in the second chapter. Rehosted after I wiped my old AO3 account; I am the original author. See A/N for details.)
