Fics like as we tumble to the ground

There was a lot to be said about Steve's encounters with the Upside Down. For all that they were traumatising nightmares, and life would be so much easier without all the daily repercussions that came with dealing with monsters, every encounter had given Steve something so precious in return. Without a doubt, it made all the nightmares worth it. The first time it was the slow realisation that maybe he could be more than the box high school was trying to push him into. The second time was Dustin and the rest of the kids. The third time gave him his Robbie. The last time gave him Eddie. This time gave Eddie back. It's almost a bright enough spot of hope to make the pain of everything else dull down.
