Fics like the moon will sing a song for me (I loved you like the sun)

She thinks that too many people talk too loudly about New York City. There is nothing all that great, about living in a city that hates you. Every piece of sidewalk feels cruel, and harsh, and every person feels even crueler. Sure, New York is special, but it is not good. It is not nice. Amanda told her dad once, on the phone and choking with tears, that it feels even more suffocating than where she lived, all those years ago, in that small town in Jersey. At least there, she had somebody. --- or; Amanda, desperate to forget everything, moved to New York City 15 years ago. She ignores the feelings, the aching, and hurt. She especially ignores what happened the night before her best friend's wedding. She's particularly good at doing that one. Until she isn't.
