It’s Christmas Eve, and Dennis is in the foulest mood anyone could ever be in. Only internally though. Outwardly, he’s acting completely normally because it isn’t anyone else’s fault that he’ll be spending the next day all alone. He’s writing up his notes, silently praying for someone to come in with an emergency that takes up so much time that he naturally continues his shift into the next day. It’s probably not good to pray on a tragedy, but Dennis is far past the point of sterling morality this week. He imagines it will come back to bite him.
