Fics like The Man with the Banana Bread

Set 16 years before S1. Ten-year-old Dennis Whittaker was left waiting on the steps of a strange building in Pittsburgh, hungry and afraid that his family had abandoned him. When desperation pushed him to dig food out of a trash can, he was caught—and saved by a gentle doctor who offers him food, warmth, and stories about medical school. Years later, on the first day of his rotation, Dennis meets that same doctor again. —————— “Hi, I’m Dr. Rabinovitch. You can call me Robby.” The world seemed to still. Suddenly, Dennis was ten years old again, and the warmth and sweetness of banana bread surrounded him.
