Fics like Burning Red

The laugh that bubbled out of Jason was another shock that zapped through his heart–god, how long had it been since James made him laugh? Too long. Way too fucking long. He was smiling so big, crazed with confusion and joy, wild emotions flooding his heart and head. He was trying to choose one of the hundred different things he wanted to say, but James spoke first: “You forgot about me, Jase.” God, the nickname–Jason now remembered how much he loved it, how James called him it more than anyone else, how he always said it with such affection. Except now, because James’ tone was daunting and accusatory, and Jason’s heart went tight in the constricting tornado of his ribs, the beat so hard it felt like he might explode. “No. No, James, I never forgot about you.” Jason had to sit down, his knee going wild with his foot tapping the floor. “But hearing your voice again–shit. It makes me realize that I only forgot how much I missed you.”
