Fics like grief is an amputation

Gambit gently places his hand over her abdomen, splaying his fingers wide, and Rogue can feel the heat of him seep through the fabric of her shirt. They both watch for a few moments as his hand rises and falls with the rhythm of her breathing. He laughs a little, still in disbelief. “You really think there's something in there?” *** Rogue and Gambit suffer a terrible loss. A study in hope, grief, and a love that persists through it all.
