Fics like In My Cold Arms

Zhao Yunlan is one of the best officers Shen Wei has worked with. Intuitive, intelligent, and brave. But he’s also brash, mouthy, and was raised for most of his youth by Zhao Xinci. He’s not above casual bigotry. Vampires feed on humans; vampires seek to control humans. Humans fear and hate them. Zhao Yunlan’s mental model doesn’t excuse the significant proportion of the species who work to hold the balance. Who recognize that chaos and bloodshed isn’t a solution. But Shen Wei remembers. He remembers a time that hasn’t happened yet. A time when things will be otherwise. And he waits. And he hopes.
