Fics like The Last

His bones finally knit themselves back together and Kaneki broke his finger once again, the snap echoing through the room, but the rush of pain wasn’t quite right. He was so close he could feel it, but it wasn’t perfect yet. Kaneki knew he'd changed after those weeks of torture, but he'd only expected it to manifest in nightmares, flashbacks, or triggers. Those things happened of course, it was inevitable that he'd get PTSD, so of course he'd researched the disorder, but some things didn't fit. He had to break his finger just right before missions, had to check things more than twice, and he couldn't shake the irrational thoughts that plagued him if he didn't do those things. He didn't know what was wrong with him or how he could have become even more broken than before, but he had things under control. It wasn't that bad, right? So long as the others didn't notice, then it wasn't a problem. What Kaneki didn't know, was how his new found family couldn't stop worrying about him, even if it was only because they knew he was hiding something and carrying that weight all by himself once again.
