Fics like Perhaps This Is the Moment For Which You Were Created

Selkie!Thomas Lawrence AU <3 *** Vatican City is landlocked. Of course, Vatican City is not far from the coast, by any means, but the point still remained that no matter which way he turned, there was not an ocean in sight ... the abstract concept of something in the distance often does nothing to satisfy the need for it. (Perhaps that was his problem with God.) And of course, needing and longing and yearning were all feelings that he tried to stamp out. His needs were not at all important when he stood in the shadow of the cross; his life was meant to be in service of others, constant and unwavering. That was why he had given up his ticket back home to that memory, that feeling of freedom in the sea– his seal’s pelt– many years ago. Thomas Lawrence was a selkie who had not inhabited his seal form in nearly four decades.
