Fics like pursuit of the whole

When BJ’s number comes up for battalion aid, he prepares himself for an unpleasant, but hopefully brief, sojourn to the front. Unfortunately for him, the war has other plans. BJ throws one hand on his helmet, desperately, clutching his bag to his chest. The explosions impacting behind them sound like the footsteps of a great giant, chasing its quarry into the Korean wilderness. His vision blurs as they bounce down the road, tyres grinding against rock, dust and dirt spraying in all directions. The sky glows around them, with burning orange blooms of light and heat. Then, all of a sudden, everything is silent.
