'Ava Sorenson' thought she knew how the story went, but when a car careening across campus knocks her into the world of Fourth Wing, she finds herself in the teeth of a real-life death college. Within an hour of landing in the world, she's both irrevocably changed the story and given Xaden Riorson a thousand and one reasons to kill her. Without Violet’s hidden safety net of alliances, the Xaden Ava meets is the ruthless scion of the rebellion who will protect his own at all costs. To survive Basgiath, all she has to rely on are her wits and barely-remembered snippets of the first two books. Unfortunately for her, she's surrounded by intelligent and ruthless young men and women with their own motivations. As minor decisions spiral and lies and truths pile up, her mission goes from 'save lives' to 'stay alive.' -- S l o w burn with actual enemies to lovers (Maybe not exactly, but he does almost kill her). Lots of relationship and worldbuilding. Basgiath is grittier and the consequences of a war college are taken seriously. Iron Squad is prominent and everyone gets a fair bit of screentime.
