“Well.” Eddie hums. “I want to talk to you.” Buck hides his smile against his shoulder, rolling his head to look up at the sky. The stars are a bit more visible tonight. He has to squint, and he’s not entirely sure what he’s looking at, but it’s nice—knowing that he and Eddie are looking up at the same sky. He can almost pretend they’re here together, sitting side by side in the camp chairs, miles of space, but still needing to press their knees into each other. “I want to talk to you too.” Buck replies, equally as softly. Eddie leaves for Texas. Buck sees him everywhere.
