Fics like the winds of change

Al knows Winry. They grew up together, went through the worst times of their lives together, made a home in each other. They’re best friends and family, connection thicker than blood binding them together. Al knows her favorite color (yellow, like rainy-day sunsets over Resembool’s azure skies). He knows her favorite song (a waltz from her mother’s favorite book of ballads). He knows her sleep habits, the way she hums under her breath when she’s getting into her work routine; her intense, eerie silence when she’s fully concentrating. He knows the Winry he’s known his whole life. But Al doesn’t know this Winry, the Winry she apparently became when he and Ed were away. It only makes sense that she would grow, but to have a life completely unknown to him and Ed? He never expected that. Distantly, Al realizes that Winry is more of a stranger to him now than she’s ever been. A few months after Al gets his body back, he and Ed tag along with Winry on a trip to Rush Valley and have some startling realizations about their best friend.
