Fics like mist

"Don’t play these games with me," Nikolai said softly, voice warm. "Or what?" she murmured. He shivered as warm air brushed against the shell of his ear. He wanted to believe she was standing right behind him, refusing to touch him, letting her body tease warming his. But he knew Zoya wasn’t close to him. She’d admitted herself that she could never stop touching him, and with him stripped down to his trousers, he knew that she’d be tracing the lines of the new hairline scars blooming against his left shoulder. But she was withholding herself. She stood far away like a crack of lightning afraid to scar the sky too early. She liked to make him wait for the inevitable rumble announcing her arrival. * Nikolai talks too much, so his Queen, while on her knees, sees to it that he’s silenced.
