Fics like heavy is the head that falls with the weight of a thousand thoughts

The boy who wanted nothing more than to carve his saga into the bones of his enemies now just wants to survive long enough to see another dawn. It's pathetic, really, the way his priorities shift when the cold breath of the grave brushes against his neck. Thorfinn had always imagined his end would mirror his father's: noble, meaningful, steeped in the glory of vengeance fulfilled. Yet here he is, not standing tall on the field of honour, but cradled in the arms of the very man he vowed to kill, his lifeblood seeping into the earth that would soon forget his name.
