"you must learn, once you have sampled the freedom of a life without a chain, that it is better to return and be chained again." - how to be a dog dream comes to techno with a request: stand by while he's executed. it's not a request that techno likes but he trusts the strange, green necromancer. but this time death is permanent and in the wake of dream's final death, things on the server begin to fall apart. techno and the syndicate take up the task of trying to stop the server from descending into rampant capitalism and possible war. it's not easy. they need help from old friends. then out of the shadows comes a nameless person clad in black, identity hidden behind a black dog mask to offer support. can they trust this person? do they have any choice?
