Fics like The Two of Us as One

"Tommy," Tubbo called out, his voice softer than the murmuring hum of the heater. The name hung in the air, charged with an emotion that was hard to place. Tommy swiveled around, surprise etching a subtle crease on his forehead. Tubbo was sitting up now, his earlier lounging posture replaced with a more upright one. His eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint – although that was probably just how his eyes looked naturally – but his smile was gentle, almost tender. "Happy Birthday, bossman," Tubbo said, his words punctuated by quiet sincerity. Tommy felt his heart swell with a warmth that he couldn't quite explain. For all their teasing and joking, Tubbo always seemed to know when to be serious and when to show his softer side. It was one of the many reasons why they made such a great team. "Don't say that, you'll make me cry," Tommy replied, trying to contain the lump in his throat. "I hope so, you look like you need it." "What does that mean?" "Nothing." or, after Kristin’s loss, the family is not the same anymore, so a desperate Tommy makes a friend. Although he’s not everything he seems
