Fics like old habits and new tricks

“-and do not let her talk you into trying to go after that bear,” Joel says with a shake of his head. “Ever since she heard some people talking about taking care of it since it’s started going for the sheep, she’s got it into her head that she wants to be a bear hunter now.” “I dunno,” Tommy says, straightfaced, “she might be a natural at it.” The look Joel gives him is not dissimilar to the one he got whenever his big brother picked him up drunk from parties in highschool. “Alright,” he says, hands up in surrender, “no bear baiting with your kid. Got it. We’ll start with mountain lions or something, work her up to it.” “Tommy,” Joel says, a clear warning. (when joel has to go on a week-long patrol, tommy is left to look after ellie) (ft uncle and niece bonding)
