Fics like Baby Steps

A bizarre change settles over the Library after that night, one that months ago no one could have ever foreseen. Ezekiel Jones, master of hiding his personal life and past, prodigy of deflection and redirecting uncomfortable prying, begins casually dropping details of his past. He's still careful about what exactly he tells them. Mostly, he gives them the fun moments, the happy memories. No matter how much they’d broken down his walls, he’s had years and years to perfect the act of maintaining the ones he’d prefer to stay up. But sometimes, things slip through. And most disturbingly, they come to realize: these things slip through because, in Ezekiel’s mind, they’re just more casual stories, silly memories to laugh at. And in a way, that’s the hardest part to swallow of all. OR Ezekiel has a slightly more warped view of his childhood than his friends.
