Fics like tell me that it's not my fault (tell me that i'm all you want)

He’s in the middle of deciding to worry about it in the morning (or after sleeping on this floor for a few hours) when he hears it. The phone - the real phone, through the gate and hanging on the wall of his real trailer - is ringing. Answering it isn’t exactly within the realm of possibility here, so he lets it ring. For a single delusional moment, he thinks that maybe Wayne will pick up the phone. It hits him all at once, then. That he’s been accused of, like, several murders. That his trailer, the only real home he’s ever had, is probably still an active crime scene. That he doesn’t have a goddamn clue where his uncle is. That he doesn’t have a goddamn clue where anyone is. As he lays there, realizing how far out of his depth he is, the answering machine clicks. OR: Steve leaves Eddie a message.
