Fics like and it echos when i breathe

“Hey,” Buck looks up at him with wide eyes, questioning and a little nervous, “do you think you’ve found what you’re meant to do?” Eddie’s laugh is so sharp it hurts on the way out. “God, no.” He says almost too easily, but that at least is the truth. Buck nods his head, like he isn’t really surprised by Eddie’s answer and he tries not to let that rattle around his ribcage. He digs the toe of his white trainers into the dirt, “Are you afraid of never finding a place you belong or — or becoming something that matters?” Jesus, Eddie grips the swing too tight, because he feels like he’s about to tip sideways and fall into the ground. He wonders if it would swallow him whole, drag him down to the earth’s core where the heat and pressure will vaporize him into dust. “Isn’t everyone?” Eddie asks in a strangled voice. {or Buck meets Eddie at rock bottom and Eddie meets Buck on the way down}
