Fics like little details

“That skirt’s not yours,” Vanessa observes idly as she walks next to Carla on the way to yet another block birthday party. It honestly seems like there’s a birthday every week, though none of them are complaining at the amount of good food they’ve been getting to eat. “It’s too short to be yours.” “It’s mine,” Daniela replies from Carla’s other side without missing a beat, eyes widening as she realizes what she just let slip, rushing to cover her own tracks. “She needed something to go with the top. I offered.” Carla nods enthusiastically, doing a quick spin on the sidewalk to show off the lift of the flowy fabric, lips twitching when she notices a certain pair of eyes on her that quickly flicker away just as they’re becoming too obvious. Vanessa, though, caught in her own world, just gapes, clearly taken aback at the thought that Daniela would lend her clothes to anyone. “You never let me borrow anything.” (Or, Daniela and Carla share clothes. Nobody really notices, but it means something to them. A four and one.)
